The fillable BPD Compass worksheets to use with clients
Effective treatments for borderline personality disorder exist. But many require specialized training and a year or more of treatment, making them difficult to access and deliver in many clinical settings.
BPD Compass offers a different approach.
Developed by Dr. Shannon Sauer-Zavala and colleagues, BPD Compass is a short-term, modular treatment that uses personality to help clinicians identify what is driving each client's difficulties—and then target those patterns directly.
Instead of treating every diagnosis separately, BPD Compass focuses on three personality dimensions that cut across BPD and many of its common co-occurring problems: negative affectivity, disinhibition, and antagonism.
The result is a flexible framework for answering one of the hardest questions when treating complex presentations: What should I target first?
